Synopsis

The monograph, based on an extensive summary of long-term research and the authors' expertise, covers the scientific foundations of sugar beet breeding, seed production, and cultivation technology for achieving consistently high yields. A detailed analysis of the biological and genetic characteristics of plant growth and development stages is presented. The work examines the history of sugar beet breeding and contemporary breeding and seed production methodologies. International and national phenological scales are systematised and compared. Recommendations for improving cultivation technologies and organisational measures for efficient sugar beet cultivation are given.

Intended for scientists, students of higher agricultural education institutions (III–IV accreditation levels), agronomists, farm managers, and farmers.
